Observe
Keep a note of itching, ears, paws and digestion. The skin reacts more slowly than the gut.
Provocation (optional)
To confirm the result, the old food can briefly be reintroduced as a test. If the symptoms return, the trigger is considered very likely confirmed. In practice, most dogs then stay permanently on the new, well-tolerated food.
