Your dog's needs change over the years: metabolism slows down, digestion becomes more sensitive, and the joints appreciate every bit of extra care. Our senior food is tailored precisely to this, with highly digestible protein, a grain-free recipe and a clear, straightforward ingredients list.

This way, your older four-legged friend gets everything important without putting unnecessary strain on the body. The recipe contains no artificial flavours, colourings or unnecessary additives, ideal for dogs that prefer their bowl gentle on the stomach and as natural as possible.

Older dogs often move less than they did in their younger years, so it's worth keeping a regular eye on weight and condition. The right amount of food depends on weight, activity level and the recommendation on the packaging, so your senior neither gains nor loses weight. Two smaller meals a day are often easier on the stomach for older dogs than one large portion.

If the teeth are no longer as sharp as they used to be, the dry food can be soaked with a little warm water. This softens the kibble, makes chewing easier and can help support water intake, which remains particularly important in old age.

If you'd like to offer your older dog something extra to chew on, our natural chews also include softer varieties that are easy to chew. If your dog becomes more sensitive to certain ingredients with age, it's worth taking a look at our dry food for allergy sufferers, made with just a single protein source.

Switching to senior food works best over seven to ten days, gradually mixing in the new variety until it fully replaces the previous food. This allows the stomach and intestines to adjust gently. If in doubt about exactly when a switch makes sense and which amount suits your dog, it's best to check with our team.

Store the senior food tightly sealed in a cool, dry place, so the kibble keeps its flavour and freshness for longer. A resealable bag or a storage tin are particularly well suited for this.

Some older dogs find eating easier when the bowl is raised slightly, as they then need to bend down less far. A calm, fixed feeding spot free from fuss also supports a relaxed daily routine in old age.

Guide

Dry Food for Senior Dogs: häufig gefragt

💡

💡

Was unterscheidet Seniorenfutter von normalem Trockenfutter?
