NANDOO's Wet Food Production

🇪🇺 EU Origin ♨️ Gently Cooked ✅ Tested Quality

Manufacturing & Quality

What goes into a can of wet food is decided long before it is sealed: in the choice of raw materials, in the way it is processed, and at every single checkpoint in between. At NANDOO, we take exactly the time these steps need. This means you can rely on what it says on the label.

Meat from the European Union

Our meat and animal raw materials come from the European Union. There is a simple reason for this: consistent hygiene standards and traceability that can be followed seamlessly back to the source. Manufacturing also takes place exclusively within the EU, without long transport distances and with short inspection routes between raw material and finished product.

Gently Steam-Cooked

Our recipes are prepared at around 90°C, gently steam-cooked. No industrial high-pressure process, no heat shocks. The meat stays tender, the natural flavours are preserved, and many heat-sensitive nutrients survive the cooking process almost unchanged.

After cooking, the cans are sealed airtight and heat-treated. It is exactly this step that gives them a long shelf life, entirely without preservatives. Flavour and texture stay exactly as they should be.

Inspection Before Dispatch

Every batch undergoes an inspection before dispatch. Among other things, we check:

  • The quality and freshness of the raw materials
  • The consistency and texture of the finished food
  • The exact fill weight of each can
  • The tightness and seal of every single can

Only once every point has been met does the batch set off on its way to you.

Open About Labelling

Only a few wet food manufacturers openly disclose how the meat content is actually made up. We would rather show it than conceal it.

One term you will deliberately not find with us is “muscle meat”. That sounds like pure meat, but it is not necessarily so. Heart is also made of muscle tissue and may legally be declared under this umbrella term, without you as a customer being able to tell what is actually behind it.

Instead, we break down the individual meat and protein proportions as percentages. This way, you can see in black and white which proportion is pure meat and which comes from other animal components.

This makes more work for us and more clarity for you. That is exactly where our proof of trust lies: nothing that ends up in the can hides behind vague terms.

Green-Lipped Mussel and Linseed Oil: Deliberately Part of the Recipe

Two ingredients appear in almost every one of our wet food varieties, and neither by chance: green-lipped mussel and linseed oil.

Green-lipped mussel comes from New Zealand waters and naturally contains glycosaminoglycans, chondroitin and omega-3 fatty acids. These substances are a natural component of cartilage tissue and are often discussed in nutritional science in connection with joints.

  • A natural source of glycosaminoglycans and chondroitin sulphate, building blocks found in cartilage tissue
  • Naturally contains omega-3 fatty acids, which can play a role in metabolism
  • Can contribute to the support of joints and connective tissue
  • Traditionally used particularly for older, large or active dogs
  • An unprocessed, natural raw material from responsible fishing

Linseed oil plays the second role, thanks to its high content of alpha-linolenic acid, a plant-based omega-3 fatty acid. It adds a plant-based component to the animal fat sources in the food. Sensitive fatty acids like these react primarily to oxygen. That is precisely why we add the linseed oil directly with the other ingredients into the can before it is sealed airtight. This means the cooking process takes place largely excluded from oxygen, which protects the sensitive fatty acids.

  • A high natural content of alpha-linolenic acid (plant-based omega-3)
  • Added before the can is sealed and therefore cooked excluded from oxygen
  • Can contribute to healthy skin and a glossy coat
  • Complements the fatty acid profile alongside the animal fat sources in the food
  • A purely plant-based raw material, well tolerated

Animal and plant-based omega-3 in a single recipe is not a marketing gimmick, but a fixed part of how we develop our recipes.
