Why animal shelters matter to us
Animal shelters in Germany are working at full capacity. The German Animal Welfare Federation represents around 550 shelters, run by 776 associations, and the situation is getting tighter: 82 percent of shelters have seen rising animal numbers since 2022, 66 percent report very high occupancy, and 74 percent are taking in more sick animals that need special care.
For us at kauliebe, it quickly became clear: anyone who is there for animals every day deserves real support, not just fine words. That is why we have entered into a partnership with the web agency TwoPixels that helps animal shelters in two areas at once, with food and online.
What kauliebe does for animal shelters
kauliebe.com is the brand of NANDOO Premium Hundefutter GmbH from Xanten on the Lower Rhine. We produce grain-free premium dog food and natural chews, with a particular focus: single-protein food made from rare meat types such as horse, venison, rabbit or goat. It is exactly this kind of food that helps dogs with allergies, intolerances or a sensitive stomach, and these are often the animals that wait longest for a home at the shelter.
Through our shelter partner programme, we give shelters three things: regular food donations from our single-protein range, a free adoption starter pack for every dog that is rehomed, and a ready-made feeding guide that shelters can pass on to adopters. This way, the switch to new food succeeds in the new home, and the dog arrives well fed and healthy.
What TwoPixels contributes
Many animal shelters do great work, yet their websites are often outdated. The website plays a real part in whether an animal finds a home quickly and whether donations come in. This is where our partner agency TwoPixels comes in.
TwoPixels builds and maintains free websites for animal shelters and voluntary associations, modern, fast, and just as easy to read on a mobile phone as on a computer. For the many volunteers who pitch in every day, this brings noticeable relief, and for the animals it means more visibility and better chances of being rehomed.
50 animal shelters, one shared goal
We are starting with 50 animal shelters that we have contacted personally, from North Rhine-Westphalia through Lower Saxony to Rhineland-Palatinate. Each one receives the same offer: food and starter packs from kauliebe, plus a free website from TwoPixels on request. Anyone who adopts a dog from the shelter should be well looked after from day one.
We believe that reliable, recurring help achieves more than a one-off campaign. This partnership is designed exactly for that: long-term, predictable and free of charge for the shelters. As the network grows, so does the number of animals we can help together.
