Camel is one of the rarest proteins in dog nutrition, and that's exactly what makes it valuable for allergy-prone dogs. A food allergy is always directed against a protein the dog already knows. Since camel practically never appears in standard dog food, the likelihood of an existing sensitisation is very low.

Our camel chews are made from 100% camel, gently air-dried and contain no additives, no grain, no sugar, no flavourings. This makes them suitable for an elimination diet, where every snack must also come from a single, chosen meat source.

Camel skin is especially dense and rich in collagen. The Camel Head Skin is therefore one of the hardest natural chews around and keeps even strong chewers occupied for a very long time. If you'd like something a bit softer, try the Camel Skin Plait: braided, chewy and elastic rather than rock hard, fibrous while chewing.

Frequently asked questions

Is camel meat suitable for dogs?

Yes. Camel is a lean, well-tolerated meat and is used in dog nutrition mainly as an exotic single-protein, that is, when common varieties such as beef, chicken or lamb are no longer an option.

Why is camel suitable for allergy-prone dogs?

"Suitable for allergy-prone dogs" doesn't mean reaction-free; in theory a dog can react to any protein. What matters is novelty: something the dog has never eaten before can't have sensitised it so far. This is exactly what the use of exotic proteins for suspected allergies is based on.

Which dogs are camel chews suitable for?

For medium to large dogs with a strong need to chew. The head skin is very hard; for puppies, seniors and dogs with dental issues, we recommend softer alternatives.
