Lamb for Dogs

Lamb has earned a firm place in canine nutrition, especially for dogs with a sensitive stomach. It is considered mild, easy to digest and provides important nutrients for skin and coat along the way. We explain what makes lamb a food ingredient, why it can be interesting for dogs and how NANDOO uses it.

What is lamb?

Lamb comes from young sheep and is one of the milder red meats. It has a tender, slightly aromatic taste and in pet food is mostly processed as pure muscle meat. Compared with more robust types of meat such as beef, lamb is considered particularly easy to digest, which makes it a popular choice for dogs with sensitive digestion.

Nutritionally, lamb brings high-quality protein as well as zinc, a trace element involved in many processes in your dog's body, among them the cell metabolism of skin and coat.

Why lamb for dogs?

Lamb is well tolerated by many dogs even when other protein sources cause problems. The zinc it contains can benefit your dog's skin and coat and contribute to a healthy appearance. At the same time, lamb provides high-quality protein in an easily digestible form, which makes it a popular choice for sensitive dogs.

Lamb is particularly sought after for:

  • Dogs with a sensitive stomach or recurring digestive problems
  • Dogs who should be given a single protein as part of an elimination diet
  • Dog parents who want to rely on a mild, easily digestible meat
Good to know: as a single protein, lamb is well suited to an elimination diet aimed at finding out whether your dog reacts to a particular protein. Important here: the diet should be carried out consistently and over a longer period, ideally in consultation with your vet.

Lamb at NANDOO

At NANDOO, you will find lamb in its own, single-protein recipes. It matters to us that you, as a dog parent, can follow exactly what ends up in the bowl: at NANDOO, lamb is named openly, not hidden behind collective terms.

We also make sure that lamb is not simply used as an arbitrary substitute protein, but specifically where its mild, easily digestible nature really comes into its own, for instance in recipes for sensitive dogs. This way, the bowl ends up with food that is thoughtfully put together and not just carrying a well-known label.

If you are specifically looking for recipes with lamb, you will find our selection in the Lamb category.

Lamb shows how a mild, well-tolerated protein can help sensitive dogs in everyday life. You can find more such raw materials and their significance for canine nutrition in our raw materials glossary.

Häufige Fragen zu Lamb for Dogs
