Why is venison hypoallergenic as a protein source?

As a so-called novel protein, a protein source rarely used in the commercial pet food market, most dogs' immune systems have no prior exposure to venison. Without previous sensitisation, the body does not produce specific IgE antibodies, significantly reducing the risk of an allergic reaction. Venison is therefore particularly suitable for diagnostic elimination diets and as a long-term diet for dogs with confirmed food allergies to standard proteins.

What benefit does green-lipped mussel extract offer my dog?

Green-lipped mussel extract (from Perna canaliculus) contains naturally occurring glycosaminoglycans, including chondroitin and heparan sulphate, as well as long-chain omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA). These substances are components of synovial fluid and cartilage tissue. Regular intake through the diet can help maintain joint function and modulate inflammatory processes in the joints. Particularly beneficial for senior dogs, large breeds (over 25 kg) and dogs with existing orthopaedic conditions.

Which dogs is the 6×800 g pack particularly suited to?

The large pack is designed for owners of medium to large dogs (from around 20 kg) who need 400 to 700 g of wet food per day, as well as multi-dog households. Can I combine this wet food with NANDOO dry food?

Yes, mixed feeding (combining wet and dry food) is nutritionally safe. When combining the two, keep an eye on total calorie intake and reduce each daily portion accordingly. NANDOO's dry food for allergy-prone dogs (lamb or horse varieties) provides a consistent protein base alongside Happy Deer wet food.

How long do opened tins keep?

Unopened tins keep at room temperature until the best-before date. Once opened: transfer the contents to an airtight container and store in the fridge (2 to 7°C). We recommend using within 2 to 3 days. Allow the food to reach room temperature before feeding.

Is this food suitable as a complete meal?

Yes, NANDOO Happy Deer wet food is declared as a complete feed and contains all the nutrients adult dogs need in accordance with FEDIAF guidelines. It can be fed entirely on its own, without any further supplements.
