Why are three different game proteins combined?

Combining wild boar, duck and rabbit creates a broader amino acid profile than a single protein alone. Different types of meat provide different essential amino acids in varying ratios, so the combination improves the biological value of the overall protein. At the same time, all three sources are novel proteins, keeping the product consistently hypoallergenic.

Is the Jagdhaus Menü suitable for a veterinary elimination diet?

In principle, yes, all three protein sources are rare novel proteins with low sensitisation potential. A valid elimination diet requires strict protocol: at least 8 weeks feeding exclusively this variety, with no other protein sources (including chews, treats or table food). The diagnosis of a food allergy should be made in consultation with a vet or an animal nutrition consultant.

What role do blueberry and rosehip play in canine nutrition?

Blueberry contains anthocyanins, water-soluble polyphenols with antioxidant properties that can neutralise free radicals and reduce oxidative stress at the cellular level. Rosehip is one of the richest plant sources of vitamin C and also contains bioflavonoids. Both ingredients support the immune system and may have an inflammation-modulating effect.

Why sweet potato instead of potato or grain?

Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) has a glycaemic index of around 63, significantly lower than white rice (GI ~72) or wheat (GI ~70). It provides soluble fibre (pectin), which supports the gut flora as a prebiotic, as well as beta-carotene as a precursor to vitamin A. Grain, especially wheat and maize, is among the most common triggers of food intolerance in dogs and is never used in NANDOO products.

Can I use the Jagdhaus Menü permanently as a main food?

Yes, the Jagdhaus Menü is designed as a complete feed and covers the nutritional needs of adult dogs in accordance with FEDIAF guidelines. For a consistently hypoallergenic feeding strategy, we recommend combining it with NANDOO chews made from game protein (e.g. buffalo or venison).

How does the Jagdhaus Menü differ from Happy Deer wet food?

The Happy Deer recipe is a single-protein food (venison only) and is ideal for strict elimination diets where only a single protein source is to be assessed. The Jagdhaus Menü combines three game proteins and offers a broader nutrient profile and more variety in everyday feeding. Both products are hypoallergenic and grain-free.
